Bio (SHORT VERSION)
John Crawford is a guitarist and singer who plays classic rock and singer-songwriter favorites - James Taylor, the Eagles, Billy Joel, the Beatles, and more - and is now available for  bars, restaurants, wineries, private parties, and corporate events throughout Northern New Jersey, Cape Cod and Greater New England. After a  corporate career, John returned to music full-time in 2025 and the guitar came off the wall for good. Most recently he has been performing regularly as rhythm guitarist and vocalist with a Rhode Island based band whose bookings have included local restaurants, Summer Beach Concert Series and a Water Fire Breast Cancer fundraising event in Providence.   With a self-contained, venue-friendly setup and a repertoire built to connect with wide ranging audiences, John delivers polished, professional live music suited to intimate settings and larger events alike.

Music found me (MY BACKSTORY)

I got my start at ten years old on my Dad's Jumbo Harmony axe that was way too big for me. A Teisco electric and a 10-watt amp came next, and my buddies and I spent hours jamming to Allman Brothers, Yes, Jethro Tull and the like. But my sisters' record collections - Bread, Neil Young, James Taylor, CSN - were influencing me too, I just didn't know it.

Everything changed in college, when I  heard Dan Fogelberg's "To the Morning." It stopped me in my tracks.  I dug deeper into his catalog along with other soft rock artists, and soon found myself playing dorm parties, the campus pub, and eventually local coffee houses and bars near the campus. It was pure joy and every tune told a story.

That's still what this is about. What I play are the songs that shaped a generation - James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, the Eagles, Billy Joel, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Jim Croce, Dan Fogelberg, and of course, the Beatles (to name a few). Their songs feel like they're speaking directly to me  - and when I play them for people, I watch that happen to them too. A lyric lands, a memory surfaces and for a moment we're all connected.  That's the magic of live music!
